1: the art of speaking in public eloquently or effectively

Yesterday, President Obama gave a speech addressing the controversial Trayvon Martin case. Because of this case, racial tensions have resurfaced and a national divide is occurring. Obama's remarks offer an appropriate and insightful perspective into the problems that, while much improved, still burden us today. I'm reminded of his keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in 2004, that electrified the crowd and thrust him into the national spotlight. While the President's candid speech from yesterday is less energized than the one given as an unknown Illinois State Senator in 2004, both prove his unique ability as an orator.
